It’s finally here. Later than I had anticipated, but ehmn.. #%!& happens.
The last photo illustrates the difference between a 1.1, 1.1 SE and 1.1 SS. It’s all about the feel really. The glossy shiny surface provides better grip, which is why we decided to do this special limited edition of the mouse.
If you have no idea why one surface is better than the other, this product is absolutely not for you. Save your coin for something else. ;-)
If it is something care about, I advice you to be fast - our stock is very limited (few hundred units). The mouse will be up on our shop at SteelSeries.com later today. First come, first served.

I thought you said it wasn’t gonna be that expensive.. $54.95 with skates, take off $4.95 for the skates, that leaves the mouse to be $50. I think i’ll just stay with my 1.1a black

#9, I guess “expensive” is a personal opinion. I don’t really find 50$ to be expensive - you can find much more expensive mice on the market today. And if you are happy with the current mouse, then there is no reason whatsoever to buy this.

Actually 50$ for a 1.1 is rather expensive, knowing that the 3.0 that is 10x better is 40$ max and the normal 1.1 is 15$ :)

Again, it all boils down to definitions. The 3.0 is not 10 times better to me, quite the opposite (I think its way too big). And I am guessing that its probably not 10 times better to people who are using their left hand.
You might find this expensive, I don’t. Definitions. :)

There is nothing fake about this product - if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. I think I pretty much said the exact same thing in the above blog post.

#16 it isn’t a question of definitions. ok I may expressed myself in a wrong way, but you got the point. the 3.0 and the SE were in the same condition: only found used and very expensive. Both have a new version, the 3.0 2nd edition and the 1.1SS, and the price differs 15$ from each. The 1.1SS is a modded version of the 1.1, which costs 15$. So we are paying 35$ for a paint job? No thank you, I’ll stick with my modded 1.1 that costed me 15$+10$. Attention I have nothing against Steelseries or its affiliates, I just don’t agree on the price which in my opinion is an abuse towards the innocent buyer.

And, just to sort of finish this, that is cool. There are plenty of guides on the internet that offers help and insight into how you can mod this mouse yourself - one of them even written by #18: http://www.cadred.org/v2/?p=articles&id=569.
If modding is not something you want to do, here is an alternative for you. Simple as that.

i myself have modded my regular 1.1, but i rather want to pay 35$ for some pro’s to do it, because frankly i did a terribly job :P
and since i also want to support steelseries i find it to be a good offer.

I was pleasantly surprised this morning as my 1.1SS came through the post, I actually ordered it while it said it was “sold out”, I guess i got lucky :) (1.1SS with padsurfers)
I was wondering about the feet which are already on the 1.1SS, are these the same as the padsurfers? Just wondering when/if i should apply the padsurfers as they feel very similar to the ones already on the mouse.

#19 I shouldn’t have used the word ‘fake’, I just ment that an 1.1SE represents somekind of another value than just what it is, due to its rareness and such - just to clarify it for the person before who evenly compared the 1.1SS to an 1.1SE.
Of course not many would care, but to me it’s about the little details such as the black wire, the black scrollwheel and the rubberish sidebuttons on the 1.1SE, which you don’t find on the 1.1SS :)
I respect your work, an awesome job you did there on the 1.1SS, and I don’t see nothing wrong with the price.

man, f*** … just too late … I just love the 1.1 - there’s no other mice for me anymore, after trying the whole logitec pallet a.s.o. there’s nothing better fittig in my hand.
Therefore I’m a kind of enthusiast to the 1.1 - I also tried to get a SE, without success ;-)
So this edition looks real nice - simply a must-have.
Because of the fact that there are no technical differences between the 1.1, 1.1a, 1.1 SE and 1.1 SS, this is in my eyes the greatest of all.
So, is there another amount coming up nearly?

this mouse got an HUGE commercial potential toward the gamers cause lot of them (like me) still prefer an 1.1 intellimouse to play their games even for competition.
It would be awesome from steelseries to produce this mouse once again.
