Ikari and Neckband on pre-order
Finally! After months of extensive research and development, we’ve reached the point where the SteelSeries Ikari Laser, Optical and SteelSeries Siberia Neckband is weeks away from shipping to gamers around the world.

Both products are available in the SteelSeries Online Shop and will be shipped end of November. So if you want to make sure that you get the product, then go pre-order it. Right now.

So now that chapter is closed, and i’m really looking forward to tryout the Ikari Optical, but i’m proberly going to try it out in a store or so before buying it. And i must say i really enjoyed the article you wrote about gaming mices ;)
Where i’m going with the closed chapter thing is, that i really am looking forward to your FPS keyboard, and i would really appreciate just a picture, a realease date or some other info please.
October 27th, 2007 12:54
I would like to see more screenshots to support my buy decision!
But in the end i think that MS Intelli Mouse is much better that this one. :(
October 27th, 2007 14:24
Graversen: Regarding pictures of our new keyboard, there are some teaser pictures at the SteelSeries group on facebook.com :-)
Shanti: An official press release will be brought in the beginning of next week and it comes with product pages including pictures.
October 27th, 2007 19:24
Okay Crash_ but no need to rush it ;)
because one of your partners have been to quick out with some info i think:
www.shg.dk > Nyt & Hot (English: New & Hot)
They have a release date, info, pictures and links to your products pages ;)

I just pre-ordered my SteelSeries Ikari Optical. I can’t wait to get it. Also, #2, you should read this:
“The SteelSeries Ikari chassis is shaped to accommodate the three predominant methods of grip utilized by gamers today: Swipe, Claw, and Palm…The SteelSeries Ikari mice boast the largest SteelSeries Glide surface ever utilized on gaming mice (more than a 300% increase over traditional gaming mice) that is specifically designed to reduce friction between the pressure points on the mouse and the surface under the mouse.”
That pretty much says that this mouse was designed to be held in basically any position and it’s going to glide like a dream. Therefore, I think you should just order it #2.
Also, if someone can answer this. I live in AZ/U.S and had to pay $20.00 USD for shipping. Does this mouse ship from outside of the U.S?? If not, why is the shipping so high?
October 28th, 2007 18:54
nsz: Can you imagine if we based all of our purchases on marketing hype?
I’m sure the mouse will be good, but its clearly a better choice to test it out first.
October 28th, 2007 22:20
Yeah - the mouse ships from our stock in Denmark close to the headquarters, which explains the shipping cost. :)
October 29th, 2007 06:58
Jimmie: I completely agree with you, but I am not basing my purchase due to the hype of this mouse.
I own the QcK+ Mousepad as well as the 5Hv2 Headset and both are extremely nice. After using the 5Hv2 Headset, I can’t even play games using my speakers anymore because I can hear so much better with the headset. Footsteps can be heard so well, it’s truly amazing.
I won’t speak for other consumers, but I personally pre-ordered this mouse because it is quite obvious to me that Steel Series does not make sub-par products for gamers. I’m sure a lot of consumers will agree with you that it is better to test out the mouse before purchasing it, but I know Steel Series has already had multiple, well known gamers test this product. I’m just considering the testing already done for me. That, and the fact that I want to be one of the first to get my hand on one ^^

Will these products only be aviable in the steelseries online shop ?
November 1st, 2007 01:48
#10 / Enza:
No of course not, as any other SteelSeries product , will all these be available in many different shops in Denmark. Don’t know when you can expect them to be released on an internation plan.
November 1st, 2007 14:16
hmm, when are these officially released?31th of this month?are you guys going to release them earlier or have them shipped earlier with your pre-orders so we can get them ASAP?
November 1st, 2007 15:28
#12
Expected shipping date on all three products is around the 20th of November. This is not a final date which is why it doesn’t say anything about it in the shop.
November 1st, 2007 21:46
thanks for the reply Crash_,didn’t expect u would reply this fast :D on shg.dk,the date is 11/16/07?it’s earlier than you guys…I just hope that u guys can annouce the release date ASAP,like for the worldwide(newegg,ur website, etc)
November 5th, 2007 04:22
My teammates and I cant wait to use all the latest products such as the Ikari mice, Steelseries SX and the new Neckband headset! And we can all dump all our deathadders into the bin :]
November 5th, 2007 18:01
Is it possible to see more picutres of the Neckband headset? Especially the cord and plugs. Will the Xbox adapter be separate, so people who don’t use it can leave it in the box. Or is it the other way around, so that the adapter is needed to use it in regular 3,5mm jacks?
November 6th, 2007 10:30
#16
The productpage for the SteelSeries Siberia Neckband will be up very soon, and you’ll be able to find everything you need on that page.
Regarding the adapter, you only have to use it if you want to plug the headset into your Xbox 360.
November 6th, 2007 11:10
Hi, I didn’t know how to contact you so my questions are there =):
Do you actually cooperate with “quake” progamers like Cooller or Av3k? I mean I bought qck heavy(a cool product which was designed by Cooller afaik) and I would invite another like headphones, keyboard, mouse. Or did Cooller help to develope ikari or neckband? Because imho “gear” to quake games differs a little from for example CS gear.
Thanks
November 6th, 2007 14:44
#17 Thanks, I was worried it was the other way around (although that wouldn’t make much sense). I’ve been looking forward to this headset some time now, hope it lives up to my expectations.
November 7th, 2007 15:46
Crash_ take some pictures of these mice on sideway…so we can compare the height, shape etc…
November 7th, 2007 16:59
#20
I’ll take some tomorrow. Getting too dark here in little Denmark :-)
#17
Yes, we actually do cooperate with pro quakers such as Cooller, and we also use gamers from all other sorts of genres such as MMO and RTS.
November 7th, 2007 19:18
Thanks,Crash_ and I suggest SteelSeries to make a tech report on Optical as well, because most people on Gotfrag have questions as if optical has the freemove tech,etc…Pre-ordered Optical Ikari anyway…and if they will be shipped on 20th,when will they be in U.S.(2 to 5 days said on the website, but the time will usually be delayed)
November 7th, 2007 20:48
Can’t wait for the Ikari - will it be able to replace my SteelSeries 3.0 though? :P
November 10th, 2007 10:16
Crash_ where are the pics u promised to take?
November 12th, 2007 11:05
Gill:
The mice are now up on SteelSeries.com with a truckload of specs, go check it out it should be satisfactory.
I’ve just updated the comparison post with the requested picture :-)
November 12th, 2007 16:14
From the Products/Ikari Mouse page:
Cord: 2 m / 6.5 ft (braided to improve durability)
the cord didn’t look braided in the pictures you posted for comparison. Please confirm Crash_ :)
November 12th, 2007 21:56
Good eyes nsz ;-)
The Ikari Optical in the mouse comparison picture is a prototype without a braided cord but the final has a braided cord, which you can see from the pictures on the product pages.
November 13th, 2007 02:16

November 20th, 2007 17:31
“The mice are being shipped as we speak. They will most likely end up in our warehouse sometime next week, and then be shipped to everyone who pre-ordered asap.”
In other words, the products are being shipped to the Steelseries warehouse from where ever they are produced. And when they get to Denmark they are then forwarded to the customer’s and shops around the world.
At least thats how I understand it. But I do hope they are shipped soon :)
November 21st, 2007 06:14

November 26th, 2007 05:49
