And the winners are…

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Exactly a week ago we launched a competition, giving you the possibility to win some very rare SteelSeries products, signed by the players who were really on top of the CS 1.6 scene in 2005 (and mostly still are today) - whimp, Vilden, SpawN, Ahl, HeatoN, Potti and Hyper.

We are thankful for all the entries and rest assured we had a very hard time picking out 6 winners. Nearly all of the stories posted, represent different emotions from different times and situations, however it was possible to relate to nearly all of the posts when looking back at our own personal histories.

The 6 winners are:

#12 - Jesper (NiP-Gaming The Revival T-shirt, signed by NiP)
Euforic, yet very tragic story - being in the zone and doing an ace can be a holy moment, however messing up a crucial defuse afterwards is pretty much indescribable. ;-)

#17 - chefn (SteelSeries Experience I-2 Black, signed by Vilden)
The story describes a scenario most gamers usually remember very well, if experienced. Pushing the level of personal skill and team play to another level through team spirit and cheering, is when you realize how fun it is to play together.

#18 - Blebb (SteelSeries 5Hv2 headband, signed by NiP)
Very, very well written story. Even though “Winning is everything”, the road to glory is just as memorable as the victory itself.

#22 - Aleks L. (White Icemat T-shirt, signed by whimp)
Quite funny story - we’re not sure whether or not your story tells us that the catch-gamer team doesn’t check the sweet hiding spots, or if you are an incredibly intelligent player. No matter what, the post was good.

#23 - Packepoika (White Icemat T-shirt, signed by whimp)
A rather unusual, nevertheless great story. One can’t be anything but impressed by a betting streak like that.

#29 - preeno (SteelSeries Siberia full-size headset, signed by NiP)
Getting an autograph from a professional player and on top of that, revolutionizing his parent’s view on esport and the gaming culture, definitely deserves to be among the winners. Great story.

Read the posts here.

To the winners: In order to get the prizes to you, please send your full name, address and phone number to support(at)steelseries.com with the subject “FragYou.net winner”.

Have a great day, and we look forward to doing more of these competitions in the future!

Old-school SteelSeries signed products up for grabs

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

While moving to our new headquarter we made a quite interesting discovery at the very bottom of the product-stacks, stored at the former office.

Around year 2005 when NiP (Ninjas in Pyjamas) was busy ruling the world Counter-Strike-wise, we worked closely together with the team on product development, and had the guys sign a few of our products during a photo shoot in Copenhagen. Current mTw player whimp (The Titans member back then) was there as well and was kind enough to sign a few Icemat shirts.

So we figured: Instead of ebaying away these very rare items, we wanted to give you guys a shot at getting your hands on them - for free. The products available at this first competition are the following:

Icemat 2nd Edition Black (SteelSeries Experience I-2) - signed by Vilden.

White Icemat shirt - signed by whimp.

White Icemat shirt - signed by whimp.

Icemat Siberia (SteelSeries Siberia full-size) - signed on the back by NiP players Ahl, Potti, HeatoN, SpawN and Hyper.

SteelSeries 5Hv2 headband (not entire headset) - signed by NiP players Ahl, Potti, HeatoN, SpawN and Hyper.

NiP-Gaming The Revival t-shirt - signed on the back by NiP players Ahl, Potti, HeatoN, SpawN and Hyper.

The competition is quite simple: Write a comment to this post that describes the most memorable highlight from your time spent within the gaming community. Everything is acceptable - we just want to know what memory you find the most important and legendary of your gaming career. What comes to your mind? Being able to visit the very first CPL event? Playing a match against a professional team? Reading about your national team taking home gold in the Nations Cup? Winning an important final match with a 140 bpm heart rate?

If this competition has a decent turn-out, I promise to put up more old-school signed gaming gear and run more events like this in the very near future.

Good luck. :)

Siberia Neckband attracting monkeys

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

It’s been a few months since you last heard from us - our apologies. I’ll spare you with all the reasons for why we haven’t been updating our blog and cross my fingers that you will appreciate the work we’ve been doing, when seeing the outcome later this year. ;)

In the meantime our good friend over at DotA-League.com, Moritz, has been residing in Africa (Kenya) on and off for the past 6 months. Recently he told me about a rather funny episode, where he caught a monkey playing around with his Siberia Neckband and eventually tried to steal it.

After a couple of jokes and on-top-of-our-head ideas back and forth, he sent me these pictures:

We found it rather interesting that not only homo sapiens are interested in having the best gaming gear, and so did Moritz - this resulted in a joint competition over at DL where you have the chance to win some quite cool SteelSeries prizes. Read more about the competition here - and have a nice day!
