Live from DreamHack Winter 2008 #2

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Day three of DreamHack Winter 2008 is coming to an end and since we had a few technical issues with getting yesterday’s blog update online, we’ll combine it with a few news and pictures from today.

Followed by a well deserved applause from the crowd, the Incorporated WoW guild delivered great entertainment during the 25-man raid and main event last night. In general, the Incorporated live raids have been a huge success so far with leader Kamy commenting on the moves from the 25-man team as well as throwing competitions for the crowd in between action.

Crowd shot from the Friday night main WoW event at the SteelSeries booth.

The Counter-Strike fans had lots of reasons to stop by the booth today and yesterday as well, since dsn from the fnatic team, female aimstar from MYM, zAAz and SK Gaming’s Tentpole each had a one-hour 1v1 session, offering SteelSeries 4H headsets to the winning challengers.

Arguably the best aiming, female Counter-Strike player in the World - zAAz from MYM. zAAz played 1v1 shoot-outs for about 6 hours in total at this event, not loosing a single match.

Live from DreamHack Winter 2008 #1

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

We decided to bring you guys a few on-site updates, nicely spiced with pictures from the SteelSeries booth.

Basically, yesterday was spent setting up our booth in the exhibitor area and making sure that electricity, network, gaming gear, laptops and all the remaining equipment was fully functional.

As for today, it has been quite busy because the doors for DreamHack participants officially opened in the morning hours and since then, the flow of people and cars in the area has exaggerated insanely.

The SteelSeries activities set off with WoW-player Kamy from the famous Incorporated PvE team, grinding along and answering questions from the by-passers.

SteelSeries at DreamHack Winter 2008

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Tomorrow morning at 6pm (in about 7 hours) we’ll be leaving cold Denmark, heading for even colder Sweden to attend DreamHack Winter 2008 - arguably the largest computer festival in the World.

As always, the SteelSeries booth will stand strong and give you the possibility to stop by and, among other things, watch WoW raids from some well-known faces on the PvE scene.

You’ll also get the possibility of exploiting your underdog potential by challenging professional Counter-Strike players from the likes of SK Gaming, MYM and Fnatic for a 1v1 match and possibly walk away with a victory + a SteelSeries product.

All our gaming gear will be for show at the booth so feel free to come over, hang out and get hands on some of the products whenever you need a break from the screen.

There’ll be more events going on at the booth and lot’s of great offers on the SteelSeries products as well - we definitely look forward to seeing you there!

Win the SteelSeries WoW and WotLK products

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

To give you a little appetizer on the varm feeling in your stomach when receiving the perfect Christmas gift, we’ve set up some competitions with our friends and partners over at ClanBase and SK Gaming to offer you the chance of winning our newly released WoW and WotLK products.

Starting off, SK Gaming and their European WoW PvP players are hosting a very interesting competition over on their site, where the successful PvP team will be judging the submitted entries.

Basically you have to find out how you would bind the different 15 buttons on the WoW MMO Gaming Mouse to get the perfect setup - professional PvP players from SK Gaming, Xom, Orly and Another will then publicly be commenting on the best entries and decide who will win the mouse.

Enter the SK Gaming competition here.

bds on the past, present and future of eSports

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

SK Gaming’s managing director, Andreas ‘bds’ Thorstensson, recently appeared in what has come to be a highly praised video interview, when looking at the feedback on different gaming community sites.

The viewer is taken to the core of what it takes and which basic elements are required to create a stabile, well-performing gaming team, and Andreas goes into detail on the ups and downs of SK Gaming over the past decade.

The interview has a lot of pearls in it and shows a very well expressed outlook on eSports from a guy that has been involved with the professional gaming scene longer than most people - this is definitely a must-see for any electronic sports interested.

Check the interview here.

Top Model - Gamer’s Edition coming up…

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

… Nah - not really. We decided not to pitch in the project anyway, because we don’t think Tyra Banks and the production crew could handle the freshness of these players.

MYM’s Grubby, long-bowing with his SteelSeries weapon of choice.

During this years World Esport Masters in China, we managed to pull together some of the different, professional SteelSeries sponsored teams for a photo shoot and I figured a sneak peak on the raw photos would be suitable:

Eye candy from the UK and Netherlands

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Wednesday last week was the big day for all World of Warcraft players, as the new Wrath of The Lich King expansion hit shelves across the globe during the midnight launch.

We were present at quite a few openings, showing of our newly released WoW MMO Gaming Mouse as well as the limited edition WotLK products, and I figured some of you might find it interesting to see how the whole thing went down (that is if you are not crashing from a 72-hour leveling session in the new expansion).

Targeting the World of Warcraft: WotLK midnight launch in the brand new GameStation store in Birmingham, we are bringing along two very well-known faces on the UK professional gaming scene - both MMO and FPS wise.
