Just wondering if there are any plans to release wireless versions of the mouse and keyboard?

    At the moment, nope.

The wired solutions were, in this case, chosen to optimize reaction time and give gamers the freedom of not having to worry about batteries (and the weight hereof) or power charge stations.

But hey, who knows - never say never. :)

When will online shops have the mouse for sale? Would it be faster to get it through SteelSeries’ shop?

That’s a tough question to answer, since there are a lot of factors involved - we don’t ship directly to the shops, but only to distributors and we have no way of knowing how long it will take for the mouse to get from the distributor to the shop.

As for the SteelSeries webshop, I will update the blog once the pre-orders are shipping so keep an eye out for that. :)

When will you start shipping to distributors? Do the distributors ship to the SteelSeries webshop? When does the SteelSeries webshop ship pre-orders relative to shipping to distributors?

It depends on where in the world the distributor is located. The SteelSeries webshop does not involve any distributors - the products ordered from the webshop are shipped directly from our warehouses.

Again, your last question depends on which country/territory you are located in, but around the same time. It almost an impossible questions to answer 100% correct. :)

Yeah I’m getting frustrated with the push back. I’m going to game stop to cancel my order. I paid in full. I’ll just wait till I pass by and actually see it on sale. This is really frustrating to have it pushed back again.

    #13 and #15:

Not sure which push back you are referring to - Q4 2008 is mentioned as the period of shipping in the press release, so start December (as #14 mentioned) should be good. :)

It was originally suppose to come out with the release of the X-pac but was pushed back to the 26th … than at the last minute (like I check Gamestop.com and even called the store on the 25th to make sure I could get it on the 26th) it was again pushed back to the 6th. I think the problem is with the demand for the mouse and the hand crafted finish for each mouse. It looks amazing, feels fantasic (having played with it at Blizzcon) but the delay is going to cause it to be a very rare item for the holidays. I’m just hoping when it comes to the 6th I don’t arrive at the store to find it was pushed back to the 26th …

Wow, what a shocker. Shows the mouse being pushed back again to 12/15. So we are now at a month with all the pushbacks on release dates. Can we assume the 12/15 date is also incorrect?

  23. Shadraak
    December 5th, 2008 07:10
    23

i agree with #22, however i uderstand the pushbacks, if it is quantity etc… i’d assume that since there’s such a buzz for these mice, as well as such a high demand they would want to make sure they have enough, however, q4 is a good example yes, but is it def. q4? i mean the 15th is well into and almost the end of the quarter, would be nice if we could get a definitave release date, again that is if possible. unless the 15th is the firm date :D if so i’ve had mine on pre-order fully paid since early nov. so i’m game.

Well, they have just lost my Christmas purchases. Went and canceled all my pre-orders knowing that they will not launch this stuff till at least 12/31. In fact, I would guess that due to their track record of push backs that you will see a press release very soon stating that it will be a Q1 ‘09 release. Guess Logitech get’s my $$ this year.

i’m with Disgusted, this is the 3rd pushback since the original date of the saturday after Wotlk. At this rage on the 14th you’ll see the “24th” as a release date since they seem to keep pushing it back 10 days.

At this point I am getting a bit upset … not with the delay in the order but with the lack of an official reason for the pushback(s). I can understand the whole problem behind getting enough mice made to meet the order coming in, I mean they are hand crafted for that nice steel finish. However at this point … we have seen the finished product go to gaming conventions even entered a contest to *win* one (how we are going to win a mouse we can’t actually get our hands on …) I would like to see an offical statement as to the reason behind the delay.

So I called SteelSeries at the number provided on their website and after speaking with a representative I was informed that Gamestop would be the first to recieve it’s orders and some mice had been shipped. No news on how many or to which ones but it’s a start. I called the location where I have my pre-order and they have yet to recieve their shipment for the day, so I’m crossing my fingers and hoping the mouse comes in.

Since every single place that you can order them from still shows “pre-order” status I’m guessing that you just got fed a line of crap. It’s pretty obvious that the company can’t meet demand and doesn’t have the PR people to find a nice way of saying that so they are just going to keep their mouths shut and hope that we all forget about it until after Christmas when demand will be much, much less.

Nice job on building consumer confidence in your company SS!

I am greatly disappointed by the silence from Steelseries on the issue of this mouse’s delays.

There is going to be a premium gaming mouse under my family’s tree come Christmas morning; the chances that it will be a Steelseries product are shrinking with each passing day.

Well, being told it is delayed until the 15th, so I moved everyone ehind me up in the line. As I am canceling my order as we speak. Funny, but I doubt I am the only one as GameStop’s web site is crawling since the announcement. Great features are only great if you can provide them. Saying one thing, and shipping another are swift ways to fail. If they are shipping any I’d be surprised, I suspect they have a hardware or software issue.

Think of us poor buggers outside the US :’( We’re never gonna get our hands on one of these before Xmas. I really wanted to have a go before I lvled 80 to get used to it. Ordered mine off Amazon and if they push back the date again I’m cancelling my order. I mirror the comments made before that this is really shoddy customer service from a company that relies on a niche market of folk willing to fork out this much dosh on a mouse.

When will these guys ever learn. We can all expect the same “Blizzcon ticket” debacle to happen over and over if they release cool new gadgets as a limited supply. Every tom dick and harry would want one, and yeah i can roughly estimate 100,000’s people that would pay $100 and up for one, damn i want 2… even something cost effective to manufacture like the digitag was on backorder for MONTHS. Its just reality folks.

if you want to check out a review of the mouse from someone who has already gotten one go to http://theprofosist.blogspot.com/2008/12/steelseries-world-of-warcraft-wow-mmo.html . I have already have over 150 people check it out from this post http://www.fragyou.net/2008/12/11/delays-for-the-wow-mmo-gaming-mouse/#comment-30540 .

since so many people checked out my review of the SteelSeries WOW MMO Mouse, added comments, and emailed me; I have decided to update my review with revisions, additions, and an additional review of the software. Also i will put a new link on this page once i have the new review up.

Thanks for all your future visits.

And if you would like to contact me directly email me at TheProfosist@gmail.com

P.S.: To Casper: Sorry about the wait with the revisions i have been very busy lately. The new review should be up by the new year.

Actually, you are only half right.

The company is unorganized and therefore no statement will made on their site due to embarrassment. Next time instead of rambling try creating a comment that makes sense. Then you won’t get a “say what” comment.

I have contacted the company and the only response came from Flemming. I will not release last name or e-mail however, what he did say was “The mouse will be available late next week I believe.” The e-mail was dated 12/08/08.

If anyone should know it would have been him. Suffice to say his statement is basically saying ‘I have no idea either.’

What I like best about it is the ease of use and the fact it’s live profile changing. If you tab out of wow and make a change it’s instantly reflected in game. The colored lights customized by profile is a nice touch. For the preset wow functions built into the software the mapping is fantastic.

Wish list: in addition to custom macros (which execute as direct keyboard input executed in game rather than the in-game macro execution system) the software also needs a key press emulation so that modifier keys (Ctrl, Shift, Alt) can be mapped to a button. Also in the future if they could work with Blizzard and develop an in-game addon for this mouse allowing for the buttons to be unique for mapping under key bindings or as a stand alone addon of some sort. Also if they could get the colored light to alter based on in game events that would be spectacular. Shifting from green to yellow when combat is entered or from yellow to red when you gain agro ect. I have no idea if that is even remotely possible but as the external program obviously issues instructions to the mouse to change the color I expect it would be if the partnership between Blizzard and SteelSeries goes beyond “Yes, you can use our logo for X fee”. :)

The LED color change (assuming you are able to use the software at the location TheProfosist indicated) is a tab at the bottom of the interface. Any changes made happen immediatly. Also Mac support I believe is slated for first quarter ‘09 if that is your situation. In my research I did see that there was a third party solution for Mac’s which seemed promissing. Can’t recall it’s name however. :(

All i can say guys is let SteelSeries know your concerns i was told their revising the mouse Q1 of 09. Posting it here wont do jack is just a blog send in a support ticket. And to everyone out there with broken mice yes there are perfectly working mice out there i have 2 with not a single problem with anything. They have really high failure rates due to the fact of having to push it out so fast just after acquiring Ideazon. The leftovers of which were put on the development of this mouse. I personally never liked Ideazons products and this could easily have been theirs before the merge just compare it to The Ikari Laser and SteelSeries mentality behind that. The mice are like yin and yang to each other. Id say just treat this product like everyone originally treated the Xbox 360 its a great product if you get a working one. I feel in the future they will get this mouse up to par with there others but it just isnt at the moment. And remember if your having problems contact SteelSeries because posing here wont help one bit. The more they know what problems were having the better mouse they can make in the future.

Heres a direct link for those of you who dont know where to go for support: http://www.steelseries.com/int/about/contact_us/support/contact_support

NOTE: If your looking for a great all arround mouse everyone should look in to the Logitech MX 1100. I just got one today to replace my MX Revolution and i must say its a very nice mouse it merges the G5 with the MX Revolution making a mouse that is both great for gaming and productivity.
