Software updated for WoW MMO Gaming Mouse
Just a quick heads-up to let the WoW MMO Gaming Mouse owners know about the latest software update for the mouse.
The new driver version became available on Tuesday the 30th of December and includes the following couple of fixes:
Fixed issues with mouse button 4 and 5 Added French and Spanish support
The new software can be downloaded via our downloads section - remember to delete the existing profiles during uninstall of your current software.
FragYou.net will be continuously updated when more updates for the mouse software are announced.
On another note, I urge you to get in contact with our support if you have an urgent question regarding the mouse and have in mind, that even though we might not answer your questions in the comments on this blog, we are spending time on improving the mouse software and monitoring the feedback provided by your comments - no matter how destructive or constructive they might be. ;)

This only seems to work when you assign Windows Button 4 or 5 to to the thumb buttons. If you assign Windows button 4 or 5 to any of the other buttons they are not detected.

The stores in Sweden got the information from Steelseries that says the mouse have a manufacturing fault and that is the reason why it’s not released yet over here. I been waiting on my pre-order since september 19…
I don’t understand why the stores in the US keep people in the dark…? Or didn’t Steelseries inform them the same information as swedish stores got? That the mouse have a manufacturing fault.
The main thing I don’t understand is how Steelseries decide to sell a faulty mouse when they knew it’s broken?
Are they trying to destroy their reputation or something?
Would be nice to get an offical answer from a steelseries employee to my mail: muspk@live.com

Downloaded new Software my mouse stopped working cant get to support as i cant create login GAHHHHHHHH
January 3rd, 2009 15:32
I honestly believe this software was never actually tested within World of Warcraft. How could you even have an initial release of the software where button4 and button5 don’t work properly in the game that the mouse is designed for?

salut a tou le monnde
January 6th, 2009 01:52
hmm…can’t update the software. Oh yeah, that’s because my Amazon preorder from four months ago still hasn’t shipped. AWESOME GUYS!

So when do Mac owners get to spend their money on your products? Please?
January 24th, 2009 03:13
This mouse is a piece of crap until they get better software. Software FAILS. Nice screwed up naming of action bars. Nice having macros totally screwed up. Nice having bindings impossible.
FAIL

Hey I just got the mouse. Is there any way to remove all macros tied to the buttons? I just want to be able to keybind my Bartender bars to specific buttons but that doesn’t seem to be possible. it still does the macro plus the keybind i’m setting. Or for certain buttons it just does nothing.
If i set the macro to “do nothing” they game doesn’t see the key. (Or the addon anyway)
March 7th, 2009 06:28
Just tried the actual game keybindings. Doesn’t work. If i set a custom macro as blank I can’t use the key. Can this be changed?
March 7th, 2009 06:34
Also when I try to set buttons to action bars, all 10 of them are not there.
The rest need to be added. That would probably fix my problem as well.
March 8th, 2009 01:18
I bought this mouse that is advertised on wow’a front page to have 15 “programmable” keys.
You cant cut and paste a macro in the text box so i wrote a macro “/cast starfire” to test it out and bound it to one of the keys on the mouse. When i click in the button with a taget selected the macro opens my general chat box and enters “/Cast Starfire” …if i hit enter …I will cast starfire. That’s functional if I want to halve my dps.
The Macro text entry box records every entry so if you hit the spacebar it types in “spc” hit the left shift key and you get “l shf”, hit the backspace bar and you get “bck”. thus if you make a typing error the only way to erase the error is to clear everything youve written and retype the entire macro.
I havent been able to get any of the programmable keys to activate an action button.
are these issues or am i doing something wrong?
March 8th, 2009 13:18
I have a suggestion:
Please include the ability to edit the Timing Delays in Macros. As well, Mouse clicks (right or left, or wheel) are not usable in Macros. This would be great for FPS and remapping shooting buttons, but because Mouse Clicks are not available, it’s not possible.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to incorporate these things in future revisions of software.
They are pretty standard functions in higher-end mice such as the Logitech G9, or the Microsoft Sidewinder. IT should be so with this mouse….
Only time will tell….
March 8th, 2009 21:52
am i the only one who is not seeing the option to set up the keys to the multi action bars, such as bottom right and the right 2 bars? additionally, im not able to bind keys to the secondary action bar unless my wow bind is set with ctrl+a number
March 9th, 2009 08:51
Set up the keys the same for two profiles (for hunter). Neither profile would work but some of the default settings (not all) worked. Not what I expected for the price paid. Will try calling later in the morning to see if this can be resolved.
March 9th, 2009 16:25
Hey guys im having issues on this mouse also , when i tried making a new macro , it seems to record everything i put in there ( including ‘enter , bckspace , ctrl , etc ‘ )
is it the software all messed up and bugged? or is there a way to fix is already the way it was given. hope anyone have a response to this
kkthhanks.
March 10th, 2009 02:23
I would love to just be able to keybind all the buttons in game. So I don’t have to use the macros.
March 11th, 2009 02:56
Myself as well Jim. Maybe make some generic windows drivers for them to see all the buttons.
Not sure if this is the place we should be posting all this though. Any confirmation?
March 11th, 2009 07:23
So I have had a lot of problems with this mouse as well. Worked well till new download. Now no buttons will work but acts like a normal 3 button mouse and profiles are still there but no assigned buttons at all.. Please advise.
March 12th, 2009 00:30
Who was responsible for testing and approving of this thing? Great ideas, but I’m pretty sure retards could have implemented them better, nothing works. About the only thing that works on this trashy mouse is the lighting and effects. All these buttons on a mouse is a great idea, but none of them work, and even fewer can be rebound to something the user customer can use. The list goes on and on and I don’t want to rant here but come on, do you guys even bother to test this garbage? Not impressed at all with this thing, maybe make an effort and put in some work with the software. I don’t think anyone who bought this mouse got what they paid for. NOT IMPRESSIVE.
March 20th, 2009 01:05
I’m having the same problem as already mentioned by others here, i program the key bindings in the Steel Series mouse controls menu to action bar button, but mouse buttons don’t work, even default settings don’t work.
I have a 15 button mouse that only has 3 functional buttons.
Is there any faq or troubleshooting section anywhere here?
March 24th, 2009 02:34
Just bought the mouse today and im handing it back to the store tomorrow since I am not alone with the Macros failing and buttons that activates everything else but the action i want it to do.
My mousebuttons in-game wont even recognise the button as a mousebutton it just says keyboard button “G”.
Lets wait 4 months and hope they can fix this cuz its not worth the money. Id take the Razor mouse anyday over this failcake.
March 25th, 2009 04:51
having the exact same problem as PJ would also like an answer on the faq or troubleshooting thing.
March 25th, 2009 21:38
Hey PJ I just un-installed the software
then followed exactly the install instructions
from the manual like this: downloaded software,
plugged in mouse, found and ran software,
followed instructions on the screen. and now all the buttons work ( default and re-programed) it may just be a fluke or or I just didn’t do it right the first time. kinda weird but now I am not having any problems. this mouse is cool, I wonder how many others have had the same problem and just given up?
March 27th, 2009 17:50
Ok I have to say I love the mouse.. When it works! Anybody know why I have to uninstall the drivers and the profiles and then reinstall the drivers and the profiles before everytime I play??? Very frustrating. If I dont do this none of the other buttons will work. Please let me know how I can fix this.
March 30th, 2009 18:00
No suggestions yet?

Keyboard quit working after lastest micrsoft updates!!!
April 1st, 2009 19:12
I still am having some problems with my keyboard, especially since updating the driver. Periodically, it simply stops working entirely, forcing me to reboot my system. And the new driver doesn’t allow for standardized coloring of the keys (a minor issue, I know, but useful in the previous driver).
More importantly to me, however, is the sudden lack of the forums, which I was very much looking forward to reading, since it wouldn’t be this blog, which obviously is a self-promotion mechanism. Part of virtually every successful company’s customer service, includes a forum for its customers to share experiences with the product.
April 4th, 2009 18:25
Sarah,
As you will see I have posted mulitple times with the same problem but with my Wow mouse. Customer service what customer service. This company is soley about making money not the customer or they would make an attept to answer questions. I would take my product back right now if I could and recommend no one buy steelseries products until the do care about the customer. Thanks
April 8th, 2009 03:02
Iv had the mouse for about a month now. i managed to figure out the macros within a few minutes. when making a custom macro like “/use starfire” you need to make sure you hit enter after it, the macro will register the enter when you use the button in game and thus will cast starfire
While i have not had a single issue with the buttons at all, or the macros, or the profiles, after a month of use the moouse just DIED. no reason at all, the lights just went out and it no longer does jack squat. i cannot move my cursor, i cannot use any of my 15 keys all of which have been programmed for use in wow, i cant do SQUAT. at this current moment i just have an expensive paperweight that with a strong enough gust im sure would blow away any ways. has anybody else had this problem yet? or am i the only one to own this mouse for a month w/o returning it?
April 10th, 2009 16:55
quit flaming on the mouse just because u can’t figure out how to get it to run…And you can keybind all the buttons in game here is all u have to do…..Open up the Mouse software and click on a button that you are going to use for keybinding…It should have a slide out to the right click on the +Game Commands then click on +Action Bar Functions…. you then have a whole bunch of buttons to map them too scroll down until u c Special Action button 1-10 and Secondary Action button 1-10..just map one to the key and then rinse and repeat(u have to pick a different one than u did b4 with other keys) then go into WoW and open up the keybindings menu and start keybinding with your new “programmed” buttons.
April 14th, 2009 07:35
HELPER,
I didnt have a problem with any of the buttons, that was all quite simple. When reading some of the responses here i was actually surprised by the number of people that werent able to figure it out and use it to its full potential. The mouse does work excellently once you program it, and had served to increase my healing and DPS by making everything so easy to use by putting all the spells on my mouse.
But as i have stated, the mouse quits out after about a month. It cant handle long term use. its great if you play WoW for 5 minutes a week, then im sure this thing will last you a while, but otherwise it would seem your pretty much S.O.L. no luck yet on if i will get a new mouse, or have it refunded, or if they have a solution to the problem. when i find out, ill be sure to post something about it.
April 18th, 2009 03:35
So where are the MultiActionBar Bindings as in Bottom left/right Action bars and the two right bars? If they are missing then wow.
April 19th, 2009 04:15
I’ve had the mouse for a about a month and mouse button 4 has recently stopped working. And yes i do have the latest drivers (v 1.03). Anyone having this issue?
April 19th, 2009 04:17
I forgot to add, I’m thinking its the mouse itself. I plugged it into two other computers. One with 1.03 software and one without. On both computers mouse button 4 did not work. =(
April 19th, 2009 15:17
I’m currently on my second WoW mouse that has encountered the same problems; the buttons (most importantly the fourth and fifth mouse buttons) cease to function when I reassign them and I can’t change the color of the mouse’s illumination.
Now I’m discovering another issue — the mouse software isn’t allowing me to create new profiles or “save” my layouts because for whatever reason, the mouse can no longer search the armory for character names.
I have two other friends with WoW mice that are encountering the very same issues; I’m currently on software 1.03 and firmware 1.01. Is anything being done to correct these issues, such as a new version of the software being put out?
April 20th, 2009 12:01
Travis, thanks for the feedback. As mentioned earlier, please contact support for any questions you got regarding any SS product.
This will guarantee you a precise reply to whatever issues you’re having with the mouse. :)
April 20th, 2009 19:10
Same here with profiles. Although I have ever had 1.03 driver version, the forst time didn’t work that of Armory profile search, but the second time it did. Now, I reseted the provile to Default just to see what was happening with mouse wheel “10 lines scrolling instead of the normal or standard three” and the Armory character search doesn’t work anymore.
And the “10 lines wheel mouse problem” was solved by going to the OS mouse configuration dialog and changing it back to three. Don’t know whi it has changed from 3 to 10 without having set it myself.

My first mouse just DIED as well (like someone above mentioned). The software is horrible as well, although it works somewhat. It has a nice “feature” in Vista, as when someone else uses my machine, and I log back in as me (multiuser feature), the system will ALWAYS bluescreen after a few minutes playing. The first mouse has sticky AND squeaky buttons. The 2nd one does not stick, but buttons are noisy. It’s not the most ergonomic mouse, even for my large hands. That said, I’ve gotten so used to this mouse now, I simply cannot wow without it (I pvp mostly and quick actions are really handy). People should realize that the macro feature simply maps keystrokes, it does not send macros to the game. So you have to map a button to a macro, and just put that keystroke in the software macro section.
The mouse really has too many buttons in my opionon. Some of them are almost impossible to reach, without changing your grip, that is akward and slows you down considerably.
If this mouse in the future will have in-game support, it would really shine. Right now it has too many problems, and software is not stable. I still use it however..
Oh, I also tried to import an exported profile, and it crashed the software horribly. I actually had to remove the profiles, and reinstall the software!
May 4th, 2009 01:22
I bought this mouse and installed it and it was goining fine untill it came to finding my characters from the armory, it just kept on saying no such player. and i tryed with with different characters and account but it still didnt work. does anyone know with i can do?
May 9th, 2009 16:01

May 13th, 2009 15:26
Could somebody explain me how to add your character into MMO Game Mouse soft.
I’ve put all information from wowarmory like Realm and Character Name. My pers on eu server.
It shows that there is no such a character.
Could you please fix it?
May 14th, 2009 19:19
Been trying to see why the hell i cant add character profiles and can’t find any source of help to ask for this. plz if anyone knows id really apreciate it.
May 14th, 2009 20:48
Okay so i got this mouse and it worked good i guess, only a couple of buttons would work when im healign if my curser is ontop of the xperl UI-box but w/e, the character profiles won’t load, i no this is because of the new Uldar patch cause i looked it up on the steelseries faq, but i dotn care about any of that very much, whta i do care is that all of a sudden the curser wont move when i move the WoW mouse everythign else works the lights the buttons everything, just not hte curser….i just dont understand

Finally An Update To The Software. Today a new version was released, v1.05!
May 19th, 2009 15:11
Hi all, I have this working quite well now, but I remeber seeing somewhere that profiles would be available, i.e warrior, shammy and the like. Anyone know where to get these and how to load them.
Secondly, profiles are great for single spec toons but not so hot for multi spec toons. My Warrior is Prot/Fury and I have set up for Prot. How do I make a second profile for Choppy Choppy?
May 24th, 2009 05:52

July 23rd, 2009 04:52
Please add function to assign shortcuts on other action bars!
August 16th, 2009 16:27
I also have an issue with the cursor control not working on the wow mmon gaming mouse. All the buttons work fine, lights etc but it will just not move the onscreen cursor.
Damn annoying considering the price of this thing.
August 19th, 2009 03:02
I’ve read through all of these comments and i’ve found no one mentioning the problem i am having. I brought my mouse yesterday along with my friend, we both love the mouse it is brilliant and works in everyway we want it to. However we have one massive downside, we are raiders and we use vent with headsets. Something about the mouse seems to be interfering greatly with our headsets (we’ve tested 3 different types of headsets with the same result everytime) the mouse is somehow interfering with the headset so any sound that comes through the headset and even sound going out (microphone) is ‘fuzzy’ so you can’t hear a thing, even putting the game sound through the headset creates the fuzz. It doesn’t seem to interfere with speaker sounds and i can run my sound through my speakers but that’s useless if i can’t speak in vent to run a raid. Headset only works again if you completely remove the wow mouse software, it is happening on both my friend and my computers so i know it’s this mouse and not our headsets/soundcards or vent.
Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a way to fix it cause i really love this mouse and i don’t want to have to get rid of it
August 30th, 2009 22:33
Just got the mouse, the color selection does not work and none of my custom macros worth either, they automatically use the default functions. Is there something I’m missing to turn either of these on or use the custom macro?
September 4th, 2009 10:04
Thanks for the info
September 5th, 2009 14:27
The profile software crashes when trying to search for characters on Mal’Ganis (I’m assuming due to the ‘ character being improperly escaped internally)
September 6th, 2009 18:50
@Alex,
I thought that was the problem as well, as I can’t get it to work with Gul’dan. But I just tried Frostwolf and the software still crashed. Will try reinstalling and see if it works (already reinstalled once >_>).
September 7th, 2009 15:43
so I recently just bought this mouse thinking that it would be the perfect mouse for my mmo gaming experience. Unfortunately to say after reading many of the comments on this page I would have to agree with pretty much everyone. This mouse simply does not work. The software constantly crashes when i input my character name to save what i assigned to the buttons. Also its preassigned buttons are the worse considering they are bound to other important key strokes which i use already. My only wish is that I read these post earlier. Had I known that this mouse was such trash in the first place i would have never paid the money for it. This mouse has many issues at hand here one big way to fix this is to write some software that actually works!!! Anyways i pray that they get some new software out soon because unfortunately i cant return this >
September 8th, 2009 02:59
Soo i buy it finally and install the software. click on the character info thing to link my character.. and over and over it just crashes the program… cool i know. then i have to sit there and use the macro function cause i cant bind the buttons past 4 and 5, after doing this i find out that i cant move around in pvp anymore or i will just spam the chat channel.. not so good for winning in bgs. so if there is anyway to fix these problems.. or if there is a phone # i can call to get real tec support that would be great. It doesn’t work at all like i would have hoped or like the guild tells you its going to. so help would be nice. all and all if these problems cant be fixed its going back and everyone that is asking if they should buy one, i will tell them not to even think about it. if you can help FFdeadpool@yahoo.com is how you can reach me, thanks.
September 10th, 2009 14:15
I bought this mouse yersteday.
Mimic of keyboard is already insane in itself… When we want to free ourselves from keyboard “over-bindings”
But on top of it, you mimic a qwerty keyboard!
As a french keyboard user it means my strafe binding leads to keys q and e…
Do a real software, really leading to full built-in fucntions (like strafing) and calling EVERY button we may have. What use in binding close-to-left-hand buttons in button bar? OMG!
Oh, and your “macro” system sucks.
September 16th, 2009 02:11
I hope you have some answers and I am sure its just something simple I am missing.
I am running a quad with Vista 64.
Mouse software version 1.05
Firmware version 1.01
The first problem is that you can not get the software to query the warcraft armory for info on your character name and so forth. Explorer will just return and error screen and close the program with nothing useful. Ok. So you save the profiles and profile 1, profile 1 etc etc.
I cant seem to get keys 1 thru 4 to work in the any profile default or otherwise. I suspect WOW is not loading the the profile, but know i no of verifying this.
My procedure is to make whatever changes to profile #1, then file:Export File: Save
Of course prior to attempting to export the file I had already established the Edit Game/APP as Wow.EXE
For whatever reason it just doesnt make it.
Any help greatly appreciated …thank you
September 19th, 2009 00:49
Well since the armory update I can’t add any of my toons to the software. Every time it does the it crashes. One thing I find really annoying is the who macro thing. Why does it have to type it out every time you click the button? In game it’s a simple click and go. Why can’t the software do the same thing? This mouse has a lot of potential but the way it was sent out (without software, etc.) is pretty lousy.
September 23rd, 2009 07:55
So I’m getting the typical AP MFC Application error associated with trying to obtain Character info.
I’ve tried all the usual steps, (uninstall, reinstall, run as admin, compatibility, etc) and still I’m getting the error. I’ve even gone so far as to allow this program through my firewall and still nothing.
Thanks in advance for any help.
October 13th, 2009 10:33
An easy way to do macros to be able to use the buttons on anything you want would be to create an instant macro and assign it to a simple button on the keyboard that you never use and then bind that key to some move in game
for example:
i assigned f12 to one of the buttons on the side
then i binded f12 to say, lay on hands.
now the button works in game
hope this helps.

v1.06 is out but I recently had my repaired so I bought a Razer Mamba (worst mistake ever). I’m going to try and return this Mamba to Razer for another one that works properly and sell it. Then I’ll go back to my wow mouse as its killer for photoshop too! Anyone know what new in this, I haven’t opened the box yet for the new wow mouse.
December 4th, 2009 20:48
so yea i just got done reading all the bs about this sweet mouse but none of you peeps ancer a simple question how to fix the color problem the mouse works fine for me but just cant get the color to change for different toons profiles sigh… any ancers NOW USEING “WoWMSW_v1.06 software”

December 21st, 2009 07:27
Argona/ Justin,
I too am having the same problem. I believe that the driver is not updating in the computer. For me the problem is more than the lights. The only features that work are standard mouse features. None of my other buttons are recognized. . .
How do we fix this?
December 21st, 2009 15:20
hey justin
i think these forms are dead i just stopped updating the software all to gether my butons still work but i find me opening the mouse software then disable and re enabling the in game options then in the game settings re enabling detect wow mouse seems to work for me ..
its like some times it works some time it dont i play in windowed mode the only two buttons work the two right next to the wheel mouse button works so i find my self setting every thing up agin like i do every time i start the game up “what i said up above”
i have no profiles set just that it know to work in game the little check box that is all i do. the software its self is junk. but it does work to let you use in game “for me that is” i still have 1.6
and i think your right about it not updating the system settings when you update to a newer version hope this helps but i think you know as much as i do when it come to this bad ass mouse with shittttty software
December 21st, 2009 15:23
one more thing i use the key bindings in game not the software all my spells are on my mouse i have no need for a keyboard other to strafe left and right and check stats
December 28th, 2009 17:30
what kind of mouse need software in order to work why cant they just allow you to use the buttons in game with out downloading something extra
January 8th, 2010 16:24
Hallo! Netter Post, ich habe mir mal diesen Feed gebookmarkt.
