SteelSeries 7G - the best keyboard of 2008

Just recently, the famous tech and gadget blog, Gizmodo, pointed out the very best gear they’ve seen over the course of the year in the annual Bestmodo post.

This time around, SteelSeries 7G made the cut and finished 2008 strong by receiving the classy title of being the best keyboard reviewed by the blog in 2008.

To quote Gizmodo: “It’s more bragger’s guide than buyer’s guide—if you have any of this, you can officially tell your friends to suck on it.”

So yeah, I guess we’re happy to give our customers that authority. ;)

    Quick!

Divert attention away from the Epic Failure of the WoW mouse!!

SS should just stick to making plain, no-frills, generic stuff.

First thing: There’s no hidden agenda whatsoever behind, the posts on this blog - thanks for having that in mind for your future comments.

Second thing: You are missing the point - this blog is about SteelSeries and everything that relates to the brand. If you haven’t noticed, we do have a broad line of gaming peripherals and while we are doing our best to serve those few customers who might have received a faulty unit of the WoW mouse, a lot of other things are happening as well.

Right now you have a lot of very upset and angry customers over the WoW Failure.

Posting awards about SteelSeries products isn’t going to impress anyone but SteelSeries.

You have a PR nightmare on your hands, and I don’t think you have a clue how to handle it… Am I right?

Absolutely not - obviously you have no idea of telling how many WoW mice we have shipped, and therefore you fall short when trying to measure the percentage of customers who have received a faulty mouse.

PR nightmare? Not really. While we’re helping out the unlucky customers who accidentally received a faulty mouse, the first 3 reviewers are speaking highly of this piece of hardware:

Again, I have to remind you that with fragyou.net we are not trying impress anyone or brag about anything related to our brand. The objective of this blog is to have another way of communicating with our customers, without being bound to a press release. We have a lot of things we want to let people know about and not necessarily all of them are press release material.

What about the percentage of folks who preordered in October and still haven’t received a mouse (faulty or not)?

    At 7 & 8:

I feel bad for you guys. You should have pre-ordered from Gamestop. My local store had 1 sitting on the shelf waiting to be sold. I almost picked it up, but am waiting for a few more people to say good things about it.

Amazon FTL though :( Hope you didn’t give them any money.

Allright - Amazon US pre-orders are of high importance to us and batches of WoW mice are entering US every week, however the number of factors between us and you as end-customer are too many for us to be able to determine a date for when you receive the mouse.

Best shot is to call Amazon to get a date on when they plan to ship your order. :)

Thanks for the reply Casper, but I canceled my order. No estimate for release date from the vendor or the retailer. I’ll spend my $100 on something tangible.

I have a question, and though this is a few weeks after your post, I figured you’d probably get a notice about it…

What’s the deal with the media keys on the 7G not working when iTunes is not the focus window? Is it a windows issue?

Hi, I bought the SS7G a month ago and already the silkscreen key-caps are worn out, not worn-off, but like there is 5 years of ‘finger-dirt’ on them. This is not normal I presume? My supplier says to RMA it, but I have to pay for the shippingcosts and all I want is new ‘wear-proof’ key-caps to be send to me. Please take a look at the link for pictures (hi-res). Thanks for reading this.
