February software update for the WoW Mouse

Friday, February 27th, 2009

As promised late January, we released another software update for the WoW MMO Gaming Mouse today.

The change log looks like this:

- Adjusted buttons and optimized GUI for localized versions.

- Fixed translations for German localization.

- Fixed translations for French localization.

- Fixed translations for Spanish localization.

- Fixed profile input to handle non-English names. Currently this feature only works if the input language is matching the default (non-Unicode) language set in Windows. **UPDATE**This will be fixed with one of the future updates.**UPDATE**

- Fixed mouse buttons 4 and 5 for non-default assignments.

- Fixed repeat rate for the Single Key mappings – the buttons are now properly held down.

New features:

- Added parallel output for keyboard and mouse events. Now you can hold the button that sends a keyboard key down and use mouse clicks at the same time.

- Added parallel output for single key mappings and macros. Now you are able to hold the button that sends a keyboard key down and press the macro button at the same time. Note that if the macro contains the same single key that is currently pressed, it will be released after the macro. For example if you keep A down and send a macro ABC, the A will stop. However if you send a macro BCD, the A will remain pressed.

Make sure to head over to our download site, download/install the new software and enjoy your weekend. :)

    I wonder what they’re testing?

    Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Kim Rom (VP of Marketing at SteelSeries) was recently spotted at the Inferno Online gaming centre in Stockholm, Sweden.

While staying there, he happened to also be seen in the company of players from the professional SK Gaming and Fnatic Counter-Strike 1.6 teams, scribbling notes on his Mac.

Here’s a few pictures taken there by the SK Gaming crew:

Ikari Laser on DH and new gaming surfaces

    Monday, February 16th, 2009

Snowboarding in beautiful Estonia left me unable to update the blog, so here goes a couple of updates from last week.

The Ikari Laser mouse happened to result in SteelSeries beating a Driverheaven record by taking home their top award, being the 3rd SteelSeries product in a row to receive the best possible pat on the back.

“Every aspect of this mouse combines to create one of the finest mice we have tested…”, “…To top it all off, your CPI settings and macros are stored in the mouse which makes it the perfect candidate for taking to your tournaments and LANs.” - Driverheaven.

Also, we released four new gaming surfaces in cooperation with professional gaming teams MYM, MiBR and Fnatic as well as Korean WarCraft III saint, Moon.

    Massive?

    Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Over the past couple of years, we received inquiries from gamers in all types of different environments with different levels of dedication, having the need for a more regular sized gaming surface with the thickness of a QcK Heavy.

To mention a few scenarios, some loved the thickness but didn’t have a desk large enough to fit the QcK Heavy whereas others actually had space for a Heavy but had changed sensitivity and felt like trying out a smaller surface.

Therefore we’re happy to let you know that we’ve now added SteelSeries QcK Mass to the family of QcK cloth gaming surfaces:

SteelSeries and DL present €1.000 Pick League

    Thursday, February 5th, 2009

As a very satisfied, long-time supporter of the DotA-League community which boasts +160.000 users, we’re happy to announce a financial partnership for the Pick League XI.

We’ll be offering both cash and hardware for the 11th edition of the popular league where you’ll definitely get to see action from both absolute top teams (SK Gaming, MYM, eSuba, Ks.Int, etc.), up-comers, underdogs and newbies, since the league spans across 44 divisions.

The Pick League XI prize pot.

More than 600 teams signed up for the league this time, and you should strongly consider doing the same if you and your friends play together in a DotA team, since: 1. It’s free, 2. It’s the best coded system around (in my opinion) and 3. There’s cool prizes to be won.
