Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Morning tweet from a happy winner in the my.Opera 1001 comments challenge.

Oh, it’s coming for us. One of the serious players in the new generation of networking services is Twitter - and it has definitely come to stay, offering the people on planet Earth a chance to tweet around the clock and let everyone know what they’re up to.

We of course jumped on the wagon and in case you forgot, you can get close with us here:

SteelSeries: King of The Hill expands to Russia

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Last week we kicked off SteelSeries: King of The Hill in Russia together with the Good Game community, offering Eastern European Counter-Strike 1.6 teams a hit at the bi-weekly 200 Euro cash prize - and the prestigious King of The Hill title.

Luckily enough, and no conspiracy theories please, SteelSeries sponsored team PinCho took home the first ever SteelSeries: KoTH match in Russia, beating escalate.

Launching SteelSeries: KoTH in Russia is definitely a big thing and adds to the fact that the concept is here to stay, 16 months after the announcement of the first SteelSeries: KoTH tournaments.

“This mouse made everything easier for me…”

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

In the most recent review of the WoW MMO Gaming Mouse, RBMODS took a closer look on the mouse, it’s features and software - and finally decided to award it the “Recommended R&B” award.

Here’s a snippet of the conclusion:

“I have used this mouse for a few days and made sure it fits my gameplay. I have to admit the learning curve is quite steep but overall when you get a hang of the mouse it works very well. I personally have played Wow since early beta and I have raided most of the content in the game pretty hardcore and the last year I have been mainly aiming at PVP so I can say I got quite a bit of experience. It will make it easier for you to bind keys, I have always had the problem to find some keys that suite well for me to bind them on. This mouse made everything easier for me and with the possibility to increase and decrease DPI I could personalize it to my liking.”

Gaming hits the slopes

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

The 27th annual US Open Snowboarding Championships kicked off last week in Vermont and just like last year, we were onsite at the event with a SteelSeries booth.

To get a break from the spins and grabs, competing snowboarders and visitors stopped by the booth throughout the weekend for a quick gaming session or to get hands on the SteelSeries gaming gear.

Check below for some pictures from the event. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Vote for SteelSeries!

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Engadget currently has voting open for the 2008 Engadget Awards and we’re happy to let you know that the WoW MMO Gaming Mouse made it into the Game Accessory of the Year category - alongside the Wii Fit, the Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour kits as well as the Sony Dualshock 3.

Not really being an expert in running election campaigns nor having the budget available for a spin doctor, I’ll simply ask you guys to go vote for the WoW MMO Gaming Mouse as we are up against the big guys on this one and would appreciate your support.

Voting closes at March 25th at 23:59pm and can be done over at Engadget.

Thanks in advance. ;-)

Prizes. Free stuff. Easy. Go!

Monday, March 9th, 2009

As always, I like to keep you guys updated on some select contests that are going on at the moment.

This time we signed up for the task of assisting the My Opera community in reaching a 1001-comment record by providing quite a big load of prizes, for a random draw to everyone who is helping out by posting a comment.

The other contest is going on over at Dingblog which is an awesome World of Warcraft blog community. A few questions need to be answered in order to enter the draw for prizes but hopefully the difficulty won’t set back the majority. ;-)

Good luck!

Congratulations

Monday, March 9th, 2009

The dust has settled and the absolute, international elite of gaming teams have probably already set foot in their native countries by now, be it US, Korea, Sweden, France, Brazil - I could go on. This weekend saw a total of 24 Counter-Strike 1.6 and 24 World of Warcraft teams battle it out for a stunning cash prize purse of $280.000 in one of this years’ most important e-sport events, Intel Extreme Masters III Continental and Global Finals, which took place at the annual CeBIT convention.

In spite of having gone through roster changes lately, Swedish powerhouse Fnatic came out victorious in the Global Finals for CS 1.6 (as shown on the picture above) whereas H O N took home gold in the World of Warcraft tournament, beating SK.Korea in a legendary final match (as shown on the picture below).

Below’s a quick overview of the top 4 finishing teams from each tournament.

Something for the ladies…

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Introducing a pink product line of professional gaming gear targeted towards female gamers, resulted in quite an outcry back when we announced the SteelSeries iron.lady products, however it seems like people finally adapted to the thought of getting their ass kicked by the female gender in video and PC games - which is awesome.

In continuation of this subject, make sure to check up a current competition done by the well-renowned, French tech site Ere Numérique, where the iron.lady products are up for grabs, in cooperation with Intel. Oh yeah, and you can win an Acer laptop as well.

Enter the competition here.
