USB Soundcard 2.21 beta driver up for testing
We have a new driver for our USB sound cards ready which is still in beta - but it solves one of the issues we have gotten many reports about lately: The critical errors with World of Warcraft.
We know it’s just a beta and that there might be some problems, but since we have so many WoW players out there, we assumed you guys wanted to take the chance to try out this new driver and leave some feedback in the comments – it is greatly appreciated. So if you need our driver badly and have experience with trying beta versions (we know many of you run Windows 7 already), you can give this thing a spin for sure!
Known issues:
- Under Vista, selecting a different sound source then 2 CH can result in a DirectSound error, which can be solved by selecting 2 CH again and re-plugging the device
P.S.: This is a beta. There can be problems. If you experience any – please leave a comment including your operating system so we can verify and eliminate it. :)

SteelSeries, thank you for the quick patch. :)
So far the fix works perfectly!
I’m having no problems, and I’m running on Windows XP Pro SP3.
If I run into any problems in the future I’ll let you know.

I did several hours of recording audio with this new driver and occasionally (rarely, though increasingly often it seems) there’ll be very loud static for several seconds. After that it’ll just be gone again.
It’ll happen for 3seconds out of a 2hour recording. But it’s very very unpleasant to listen to.
This is on Windows 7 RC Build 7100.

Update on my static sound:
I’ve uninstalled the driver and installed it again, and it seems to be less frequent now and shorter than it was. It had gotten up to a point of 10seconds of static per 10min.
It’s on a 5Hv2 with usb soundcard on Win7 RC1 Build 7100 x64.

Windows XP 32 bit.
When I play WoW and have vent open (and other sound programs (browsers with video, iTunes)), when I go into setup it makes everyones mic fuzzy as well as all other sounds (music becomes static, browser sounds, WoW sounds).
I then have to close all the programs which are generating sound before reloading them one by one, reloading one program doens’t work.
Don’t know why this is happen or if anyone else is getting this..
However, I have simply reverted back to the ones on the official SteelSeries website and using basic hardware acceleration in sound settings.
However, thank you though they have been great apart from that little error.
Also, it gives huge mic feedback in Vent (Ventrillo for those..)

I am having the same problem as stated above. After an hour of recording I will get a nasty static noise from the microphone which can last from 1 to 10 seconds. I am using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Please advise.
