I’d like to hear not those CPI specs or anything, but durability.
I’ve heard enough claims that cables on the Ikari mouse is weak and now they are renouned as “the best mouse ever, only when it’s working”.

#14
The cable issues we saw with the Ikari Laser was only on a relatively small amount of mice and everyone who experienced the issue should’ve got their mice replaced by now. Of course it’s not acceptable that a professional gaming mouse has this kind of issue, but sometimes mistakes occur in production and we do our best to remedy the situation if it doesn’t get fixed before reaching the hands of an end-user.
I understand your concern about durability but remember it’s always the people experiencing problems that makes the most noise ;-)

Hey Crash,
I was wondering, cause the Xai uses a laser sensor, does it have jitter problems on certain surfaces due to its very high sensitivity like the razer mamba for example, I bought that mouse and was very disappointed because it jitters alot when you hold it still and click mouse buttons 1 and 2 rapidly creating problems for aiming. I think this jitter problem is due to something called z-axis tracking which the the sensor has.
Razer released a new firmware to fix the jitter but it comes at a price as it reduces the tracking accuracy when you do slow movements whilst aiming, therefore the newly released firmware is pointless. I think people like myself who only game on clothpads will probably dislike the mamba compared to people that use hard pads as the jitter problem only happens on soft pads. I wouldn’t change mousepads to make a mouse work the way it’s supposed to, because I just don’t like hard pads to be honest, i prefer cloth pads. And when you pay a lot of money for a gaming mouse, you expect it to work on almost every surface.
Because of my bad experience with this new supposidly advanced laser sensor mouse by razer, I have become sceptical of laser sensors. And I did also own a Steelseries Ikari Laser mouse which I thought was a decent mouse but I couldn’t use it as it had negative acceleration which affects a low sen player like myself.
I would like to know whether the Xai’s laser sensor has any problems similar to the problems I stated above.
I am interested in the Xai and just curious of how good its sensor is. I do like Steelseries products in general, especially because the Ikari Laser I felt had very good build quality and didn’t feel like it was cheaply made like a lot of other mice I have owned.
I would have considered the Steelseries Kinzu as it uses an optical sensor, but I noticed that it lacked the side buttons like the Xai has. I found it odd why Steelseries decided not to build the mouse with side buttons and also it is supposed to be 7% smaller than the Xai. Could you explain to me why Steelseries decided not to have the side buttons for the Kinzu, and why they made the mouse smaller than the Xai.

Crash,
I did run into problems with my Ikari Optical disconnecting / reconnecting - is this the fixed problems talked about above, or is this a different matter? You only mention the Laser…

are these mice ever coming out or what?
September 21st, 2009 17:46
What is the eta on these mice. I need a replacement mouse that can be used left-handed and small enough for a 5″ girl… finding a decent gaming mouse with this criteria is tough :) The kinzu sounds perfect.

still no date for the xai? i’m hearing 30th october from retailers….

Kinzu has a bad sensor with variatons of positive acceleration and negative acceleration + correction so hands away from kinzu just waste of money
and they dont answer support mails
